I am a second generation Chiropractor, which means my father practiced chiropractic. He practiced for 43 years and retired in 1994. I was born in 1954 and raised in Toccoa. I graduated from the University of Georgia in 1976. Three years later, I enrolled in Life Chiropractic University in Marietta, GA. In 1982 I graduated and began practice in June. I am also a member of the Georgia Chiropractic Association (GCA). In my early years of practice, I was very active in the GCA, holding local and state offices.

In my early years of practice it seemed I wanted to tell my viewers everything about me to make sure they could have confidence in my decisions concerning their health. After experiencing more than thirty years of practice those things don’t seem to matter as much as they once did. Some things have changed, some have not. The primary thing that has not changed and will never change is the fact that your body and God are the only true healers. Chiropractor’s, MD’s, PT’s, drugs, vitamin and minerals, exercise, rest, eating right, etc. none of these have the ability to heal. They only affect the environment in which the body has the potential to heal.

As my years of practice went by I began to realize all I wanted was predictable outcomes. I no longer cared about the professional philosophies on health or the newest diet, nutritional supplement, or exercise fade. I just wanted predictable outcomes. This lead me to foundational principles, you know, those things that never change, like gravity, oxygen content in the air, sun up-sun down, gravitational pull of the sun, order to chaos, life gives life, etc. These things never change and because they never change, they have predictable outcomes. If I jump out of a five story building it is predictable that it will hurt. If the oxygen content gets decreased we can die, oxygen increases, spontaneous combustion could occur. If I stick my head under water, I will quickly realize I am not a fish. These are predictable outcomes.

Applying these concepts to health, what are the health principles that would give predictable outcomes? The foundational principle for health says, “Anything that has life in it, if placed in the right environment will flourish.” If farmers put seeds in the ground with good soil, water, and sunshine provided, the seeds will grow. The farmer does not have to tell the seeds what to do, they know what to do, all the seed needs is the right environment. You are a living entity, providing the right environment for your body for an extended period of time and it will strive to reach its full potential. Your body has been designed by God for survival and to be healthy. If you cut yourself, you don’t think to send platelets to stop the bleeding, send white cells to fight infection, and skins cells for repair. It just does it. You don’t think about breathing until you can’t. You don’t think about your heart pumping, your body temperature at 98 degrees, digestion, etc. Your body does it for you in the environment you provide it.

So what are the health principles that provide the right environment to reach our health potential;
